The Orchard House School Bursary Programme awards bursaries to bright and promising children whose family would not otherwise be able to afford an independent fee-paying school.
Bursaries are offered by Orchard House School Educational Trust (OHSET), a registered charity which works closely with, but independently of, Orchard House School, and raises funds year-round from the whole school community.
How our bursaries work:
- Your academically gifted child may be eligible for a bursary if you can demonstrate the need for financial support.
- Bursaries include assisted places with varying degrees of funding depending on your financial status, with additional provisions for uniforms, residential trips and other expenses.
- Typically, bursaries are awarded to children entering Year 3 (aged 7+). However, sometimes applications can be considered for places in Years 4 or 5. Your child must have the right to reside in the UK.
If you would like to register your interest in applying for a bursary in the future, please provide your details here.
If you would like to apply now for a bursary for your child to join the school in September 2025, please see below for more details and complete the form here.
How the application process works:
- Applications are open until midnight on 31 January 2025.
- Once you have submitted your application you can expect to hear back from us within one week to acknowledge that we have received it.
- We will contact all applicants no later than 14 February 2025 with an update on the status of their application
- Following your initial application, next steps include:
-
- Providing recent reports from your child’s current school
- Undertaking a comprehensive financial assessment by an independent specialist company, potentially including a visit to your home
- An assessment morning at Orchard House for your child
- An interview for parents at Orchard House
- Orchard House contacting your child’s current school
- We aim to make final decisions by the beginning of the summer term
Financial requirements:
We don’t set fixed financial thresholds for bursary eligibility; instead, we work with a specialist company to understand a family’s full financial circumstances. As a general rule, we aim to give transformational bursaries—100% bursaries to children who otherwise would not have access to any form of private education.
